On July 13, 1985, my friend Paul and I were visiting with some girls we had just met at a campground in OOB. The had a pop-up and invited us to hang. No, we didn't get lucky. But we were lucky enough that the camper also included a TV. Must of been a pretty upscale campground cause they had cable! After staying up all night in the blur of an early Saturday morning we turned on MTV. It was just in time to see Martha Quinn and Mark Goodman welcoming us to the worldwide broadcast of Live Aid. The TV was black and white, so Paul and I decided that watching this historic humanitarian music event in color was more important than hanging out with the ladies. We headed to his parents house in Scarborough and were glued all day long, watching the biggest artists of the 80's in London and Philadelphia. The highlight of the day remains to this day, the incomparable Freddie Mercury and Queen. They came out and absolutely crushed it with a 20 minute set that was as satisfying as a 2 hour show.
