It was a sold-out show on August 11, 1978. Foreigner played the Civic Center 38 years ago today. This was the Double Vision tour. New songs Hot Blooded and the title track were blazin' the airwaves from the Rock & Roll Blimp, so Maine fans were beyond pumped to experience them live! Foreigner's second trip to Portland was their first as the headliner. They opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd on June 14, 1977. This band was pretty good to us during their '80s heyday, returning for Head Games in '79, Foreigner 4 in '82, and Agent Provocateur in '85. All the best Foreigner tours in their history came to Portland. And let's also remember Lou Gramm opening for Steve Miller at the Ballpark in OOB in the summer of 1990. You can still see a band called Foreigner these days, but fortunately Blimpsters got to see the real deal way back when!

Here’s the exceptional vocal work of Lou Gramm with the original line-up.
