A shrimp so incredibly loud that it kills small fish?! Yes, and it's named after Pink Floyd! The Synalpheus Pinkfloydi shrimp has a huge, bright pink claw that produces a shattering 210 decibels when he snaps it. That's twice as loud as the average rock concert and loud enough that it kills small fish around him, making mealtime a breeze. Synalpheus Pinkfloydi was named after Pink Floyd because of it's big, pink claw. BUT, there is an urban legend that Pink Floyd played a show that was so loud that it actually killed all the fish in a pond near the venue! Dr. Sammy De Grave named the shrimp, he is the head researcher at Oxford University Museum of Natural History and he's a huge classic rock fan. He named another shrimp species after Stones' frontman Mick Jagger, Elephantis Jaggerai!

You know you've made it in rock n roll when a crustacean is named after you. Elephantis Jaggerai is another shrimp, named after Mick Jagger!
