Portland has seen a flood of new restaurants open recently and it seems like all corners of the food spectrum have been covered. From Italian, to Vietnamese, to BBQ, you'll be able to find what you want within the city limits. But perhaps there was an opening in the cheesesteak market and that's what a new place at 935 Congress Street called The 5 Spot is banking on.

According to Portland Food Map, The 5 Spot will serve up authentic Philly cheesesteaks daily, as well as a collection of homemade soups, hand carved ham and turkey sandwiches, unique wraps and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Not only that, but they are confident they will be serving the BEST breakfast sandwiches in the city.

The name The 5 Spot is a homage to their daily special that they will be offering up. It's a family owned business who's ultimately hoping to bring a Philly flare to a small restaurant here in Portland.

Their location will be familiar to longtime residents of Portland as it housed Sonny's Variety for decades. It's located right next to the Inn at St. John and across the street from Pizza Villa. Their Facebook page states their hours at 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
