Taking the Amtrak Train service to Boston is the best way to go in my opinion. You don't have to worry about traffic, accidents, parking or being late. Just get on the train and relax, maybe swing by the beverage car, do some reading, take a nap or just stare out the windows!

Starting Monday residents of Freeport and Brunswick will be able to take the train to Boston regularly on the Downeaster now that the $9.4 million construction of a secondary passing rail line in Falmouth and Cumberland called Royal Junction Siding is done.

Right now, the Downeaster runs five round trips between Portland and Boston, and three of them extend to Freeport and Brunswick. Beginning Monday two additional round trips will be added with service to Freeport and Brunswick on weekdays, and one additional trip will be added on weekends.
