Another Chance to See the Northern Lights is Possible in Maine Late Friday and Early Saturday
We can thank a couple of massive explosions on the sun for providing Mainers with another chance to see the Northern Lights.
Two coronal mass injections, also known as solar flares were shot toward Earth from the sun on Wednesday and were of the highest category on the scale the most powerful we’ve seen in a decade. All those electrons are hurtling toward Earth and when they hit the atmosphere, they have the potential to spark nature’s very own fireworks show, The Northern Lights.
The National Weather Service posted photos of the first round that came in Thursday night over Caribou.

It’s possible we could see it again Friday night and Saturday morning. You might want to grab a nap so you can stay up to try to see this amazing phenomenon.
