One throwing error led to five Red Sox runs in the 6th inning and that was more than enough for Clay Buchholz and company. A 5-1 win over the Orioles reduces the magic number to clinch down to six.

In that 6th inning with Baltimore ahead 1-0, Chris Davis made a throwing error at first base leading to two Sox runs.

One pitch later, rookie Andrew Benintendi ripped a 3-run home run. Just like that it was 5-1 Sox.

Clay Buchholz pitched seven innings of one run, three hit ball. The bullpen did the rest.

The Sox have won seven in a row and 10 out of 13, all against the AL East.

With a record of 88-64, the Sox are a season-high 24 games over .500 and with Toronto losing in extra innings the magic number to clinch is down to six.
