From 2005 to 2008 Ben Bishop was UMaine starting goalie for 99 games. When he turned pro after his junior year, in came Scott Darling who played in 54 games over the next two seasons.

Wednesday night the two former Black Bears meet on hockey's biggest stage - the Stanley Cup Finals.

Bishop will start in net for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Darling backs up Corey Crawford in goal for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Two of the four goalies suiting up in the finals are former Black Bears.

NOTE:  Former UMaine assistant coach Grant Standbrook was a big part of bringing both Bishop and Darling to Maine. He stays in constant contact with them. Standbrook will join the Morning Pitch Show this morning on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
