"The long good bye"
For the first time in a few years I am enjoying an end of summer tan. I have been applying sunscreen religiously but the universe has been kind, allowing just enough UV rays through to leave strap marks and a few freckles. With the aid of carefully administered self tanner I can wear a sundress without creating the glare of solar panels. Summer does not want to leave and she has been such a wonderful house guest that I will cry in the driveway as she goes and the fall trees give her a good bye parade with falling leaves. It's time though. Our grill's propane tank is empty and we're planning a big pumpkin carving party for October so I need to let go of summer and move on. I will remember our time together fondly. The great weather meant lots of family time outside and succesful cook outs. The girls have started outgrowing their summer clothes and Sabelle is looking through catalogues for Halloween costumes. I saw a pilgrim at the store last week. Just a display, not a real pilgrim but still... So good bye summer. Thanks for the memories, and next year please arrive early and visit for as long as you can. We'll have our beach toys and flower beds ready for you.
