It hasn't been a good week if you're a fan of Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse in Maine, or an employee of the company either. After the Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse in Bangor shutdown last week, the South Portland location followed suit on Tuesday, closing abruptly and leaving 60 employees jobless.

According to the Forecaster, the South Portland location of Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse had been open for more than 20 years and was one of the original cornerstones to the Clarks Pond development project.

Bugaboo Creek became a family favorite immediately, with "interactive" wildlife and and a rustic decor that was charming. However, in recent years, new restaurants with updated decor and more vibrant menus had been attracting customers over the aging chain restaurant. Bugaboo Creek has only two remaining locations nationwide.

The employees that now find themselves out of work will be helped by the State of Maine's Rapid Response team.
