Local brewers have reached out to actor Bill Murray and invited him to join us November 5th for Portland Beer Week.

They are brewing tribute beers in his honor. Shahin Khojastehzad, co-owner and manager of Novare Res Bier Cafe, started the ball rolling and now there is a real "buzz" going in Portland. It's not outside the realm of possibility for Bill to show up for Portland Beer Week, he's been popping up unexpectedly lately.

In recent months he has photo bombed an engagement photo shoot, attended an ice cream social named for him in L.A., crashed a bachelor party and jumped into a New York City kickball game. Marriot Courtyard hotel has offered a free room for Murray, and Dave Evans, co-owner of The Great Lost Bear, is working on getting a golf cart to chauffeur Bill around bars in Portland that will be serving his tribute beers. Brewers are having fun naming their brew. Check out "Groundhog Day I.P.A." from Maine Beer Co., or "Lost in Fermentation" from Banded Horn. The clever titles go on and on. Proceeds from the special beers will be donated to Bill's charity of choice.

I love Bill Murray, I love Beer. I'm on the band wagon.
