David Gudas shared this photo from 1989 on the I was born in Lewiston, ME., and remember when.... Facebook page. Do you remember this store?

Beverage World was at 256 Bartlett Street in Lewiston, and was the local mom and pop convenience store that every town had where you could bring your empties and cash them in toward some full ones.

According to Chris Milo who commented on the photo, the store was built from a garage. Chris' dad owned the store and he worked there sorting bottles out of and old tractor trailer until an addition was built for a bottle room.

If you look closely at the sign, you'll see that a carton of Marlboro cigarettes only ran you $12.45. Today you can't even buy two packs for that price.

Almost 30 years later, Beverage Depot is gone. Here's what it looked like a couple of years ago from Google Street View.
