The snow is really getting to me. Between snow days and kids' sick days, I feel like I haven't left the house in far too long. None of us have! So I took a deep breath and watched my kids and dogs, along with Daddy, build a snow man. They gave him cinnamon raisin bagels for eyes and strawberries for a mouth and nose. They named him T-Rex because they could only find short little sticks to use as arms. From behind our sliding glass doors they looked like they were having fun! I stepped out to take a few pictures but went back inside where there was hazelnut coffee and lots of heat.

My personal belief is that winter is best enjoyed through glass, or the magic of television. But it was good to remind myself that even though the kids say they are bored, and spend their days tormenting each other, that a double snow day is the stuff of legend! This is part of childhood, one of the really cool parts! I remember listening to the radio for no-school announcements, then spending the rest of the day listening for my favorite songs and making requests. I loved poster board, and would write the lyrics to my favorite songs and hang them on the back of my bedroom door. I think that snow days really made me fall in love with radio. It's still how a lot of kids find out that they can sleep in and not worry about unfinished homework or math tests!

If it's another snow day in your town, here's something to cheer up your shut-ins!

It's a little story about a pig and her snow lady.
