Life in Maine is always an adventure. Yesterday I was on my way home when I came upon a rooster walking on Ocean Street in South Portland. Of course I did. I didn't want him to get hit by a car or to cause an accident, so I turned on my hazards, pulled over and put him in my backseat, like a good Maine girl. He was handsome and well-mannered. He even ate the cereal bar crumbs on the backseat! I almost kept him. This is what a conversation between myself and a rooster sounds like...

The animal control officer had an idea where he might live. I started worrying that I had picked up a hitch hiker that was "known" by local law enforcement. I guess I still go for the bad boys. We said our goodbyes. I thanked him for cleaning up the backseats and I'm pretty sure he winked at me.

See you 'round town, Jack.
