We should've learned last year with record-breaking flu cases and deaths in Maine; the flu is no joke. As the number of influenza cases climb in Massachusetts, the Public Health Department is reminding residents that it's not too late to get flu shots but to keep in mind that the vaccine takes two weeks to build up maximum protection.

One unfortunate Massachusetts resident neglected to "get around to" going in for a flu shot and went to Reddit to warn anyone else who hadn't yet that it's well worth their time.

Get your flu shot asap. CDC has deemed it widespread and severe in Boston and I can first-hand tell you it’s not worth it. [citations included] from r/boston

If this isn't enough of a vivid warning what you might be in for if you pass on the flu shot, I don't know what is. "Fishing wire across the throat" is enough to have me get a dozen shots in a day! Protect yourself and those around you by getting the flu shot if you haven't already!
