The Boston red Sox used the homerun ball to win the season opener. The Phillies turned the table in game two and beat Boston 4-2.Jeff Francoeur hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 6th inning to break a scoreless tie and provide all the scoring the Phillies would need. Chase Utley would tack on an insurance run the next inning with a sacrifice fly.

Aaron Harang kept the Sox bats in check pitching two hit ball over the first 6.1 innings and striking out 8.

Rick Porcello took the loss while Xander Bogaerts and Pablo Sandoval each drove in a run for Boston .

The series concludes in Philadelphia tonight.
