I got a heartfelt email from a Blimpster yesterday asking us to get the word out for a benefit happening this weekend.

Cancer Benefit for Keith Barry and Family

A public benefit and potluck dinner for Lisbon resident Keith Barry and his family will be held on Saturday, January 24th, from 5-10 pm at the Knights of Columbus #1947 in Brunswick, to raise funds to help the Barry family pay its bills as Keith, 41, bravely fights acute myeloid leukemia at CMMC in Lewiston.

Dinner will be provided potluck style, with a wide variety of foods. Brian Phoenix of The Music Man DJ Service will spin tunes, a cash bar will be open, and a 50/50 raffle, which includes a host of great prizes, will be available.

Also, a large silent auction will be held with fantastic items (including numerous sports memorabilia) to bid on, such as: two 2nd and four 3rd row Celtics/Cavaliers tickets for April 12th ($1128 value), a Carl Yastrzemski autographed print ($1800 value), an Agren Appliance knife set ($590 value), four $100 Lisbon Road Animal Hospital gift certificates, a Samsung Galaxy 10” tablet ($280 value), an exterior polish car detail ($125 value), and dozens of other great items ranging from local restaurant gift certificates to limousine rides to Red Dogs, Sea Dogs, and Pirates tickets to a cornucopia of other wonderful and diverse items. (All transactions must be cash only.)

Admission is free, but a cash donation to Keith’s cause is strongly suggested. All cash donations go directly to the Keith Barry and family relief fund. Cash donations can also be made at any one of the 15 branches of Five County Credit Union, or online at GoFundMe.com.
