What may have started as a moronic prank turned into a small dose of mayhem Monday morning when two people stole a front loader and drove it the wrong way on the Maine Turnpike, causing multiple accidents.

According to WGME, the incident happened between the Gray-New Gloucester toll plaza and the Auburn exit on the Maine Turnpike. The two individuals who allegedly stole the construction vehicle then drove it the wrong way on the turnpike until they struck a vehicle. The thieves then attempted to cross over the turnpike where they struck another vehicle. They were reportedly then pulled over and apprehended by Lewiston Police.

Details are still coming in on how the individuals were able to access the front loader and whether or not the accidents that were caused by the crime ended with significant injuries.
