Labor Day 2014 in Portland – What’s Open, What’s Closed?

Labor Day this year is on Monday, September 1. That means it’s a long weekend for the workforce. To help make the most of this free day, here is a full list of what’s going on and what’s open and closed in Portland on Labor Day. We have also included some events that are taking place Labor Day Weekend in the Portland area as well as the skinny on the region’s most popular amusement and water parks.

Banks: Closed.

Portland Public Library: Closed.

Portland City Hall and Federal government offices: closed.

Portland Public Schools: Closed.

University of Southern Maine: Closed.

Kaplan University: Closed.

Maine College of Art: Closed

Southern Maine Community College: Closed.

Post offices: Closed.

Maine Mall: Open regular hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Portland Museum of Art: Open, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Victorian Mansion: Closed.

Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine: Open, 10 a.m. to 5 p,m.

Portland Sea Dogs: Final game of the season against the Harrisburg Senators at Hadlock Field at 1 p.m.

Casco Bay Lines: Open, normal ferry schedule.

Portland boat cruises on the waterfront: Open.

Maine State Parks: Open.

Regional Water Parks and Amusement Parks:

Water Country, Portsmouth, N.H.: Open, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Aquaboggan, Saco, Maine: Open, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Funtown Splashtown USA: Saco, Maine: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Palace Playland, Old Orchard Beach, Maine: Open, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

York’s Wild Kingdom, York Beach, Maine: Open, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Storyland, Glen, N.H.: Open, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Santa’s Village, Jefferson, N.H.: Open, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Portland Area Labor Day Weekend Festivals and Concerts:

Portland Brew Festival: Friday, Aug. 29 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m. at Maine State Pier.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Sunday, Aug. 31, 7:30 p.m., at Cross Insurance Arena.

Boothbay Harbor Harbor Fest: Friday, Aug. 29, Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31.

Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, Bangor:

Steely Dan, Friday, Aug. 29.

Lady Antebellum, Saturday, Aug. 30.

Jason Aldean, Sunday, Aug. 31
