Kate Hall just finished her high school track career at Lake Region and when she heads off to Iowa State in the fall she will do so as the national record holder in the long jump.Hall who is from Casco was competing at the New Balance National high School Track & Field Championships in North Carolina and took down a 39 year old record. She went into her final jump with Courtney Corrin from California in the lead with a jump of 21'5". Hall not only beat that mark by a foot, but her distance of 22'5" broke the high school national record set 39 years ago by former Olympian Kathy McMillan.

The mark also sets a new junior record previously held by Carol Lewis, sister of famed Olympian Carl Lewis.

Hall is off to Iowa State on a track scholarship in the fall.
