A desperate Toronto Maple Leafs team got back in its Stanley Cup Playoff series with Boston, beating the the Bruins 4-2 in game three last night.

The B's thumped them twice at Boston Garden and as expected the Leafs played much harder in front of their home crowd. Young star Auston Matthhews scored his first goal of the series and it was the game winner. Veteran Patrick Marleau scored two goals for Toronto.

Boston's top line, Bergeron-Pastrnak-Marchand, was not nearly as effective in this game. In fact, they were a combined minus-7 in the +/- stat line.

The Bruins did have scoring chances, Leafs goalie Frederick Andersen made 40 saves. Tuukka Rask stopped 26 for the Bs.

So the series is now 2-1 Boston with game four Thursday night in Toronto.
