Maine Craigslist Summer Rental, Willard Beach Charmer! [PICS]
My in-laws are coming to visit in July and instead of putting them up in a hotel I’m looking around Craigslist for summer rentals near our house, and ooh la la I found this Willard Beach Bungalow With Ocean Views! It is storybook charming and pet friendly!
Here’s the listing:
“New to Market: Beautiful coastal home with lovely ocean views and less than 100 yards to Willard Beach!
Beautifully renovated 3 Bedroom, 1.5+ bath turn-of-the-century seaside home features beautiful views of the Portland shipping channel and the islands of Casco Bay and is less than 100 yards to Willard Beach. Sleeps 7-9 (7 in beds and 2 extra in very high-quality inflatable mattresses with memory foam toppers).
This quintessential year-round Maine cottage is fully-renovated and is surrounded by stunningly beautiful English gardens and stone patios, with the patios and most rooms in the house enjoying lovely ocean views.
This home is located in the very popular Willard Beach area of South Portland, and is also situated just 3 blocks from beautiful Cape Elizabeth, with easy access to even more beaches and coastal scenery.
The friendliness and walkability of our neighborhood and the easy access to Willard Beach has made this destination the most popular vacation destination in the entire Greater Portland area, as well as the “hottest” neighborhood for young families to reside in. Within a short walking distance of our cottage, you will find Willard Square, home to Scratch Bakery, featured in the New York Times, Bon Appetit, and ranked in the “Top 10 Bread Bakeries in the United States”. Locals make daily visits to Scratch for their famous handmade sourdough bagels and delectable breakfast pastries, desserts, breads and so much more. Also within a short walking distance from the cottage are several restaurants and ice cream shops, including the locally-owned but nationally recognized Otto’s Pizza.
This home is beautifully furnished and luxuriously appointed with high-end designer furnishings, high-quality new mattresses, three flat screen TVs and high-end bed linens and designer bedding.
The bedrooms sleep 7-9 guests on high-quality mattresses. ”
Yes, just as beautiful inside as it is outside.
Oh, and the stone patio and gardens are magical!
It wasn’t enough just to name drop Scratch Baking to the foodies from away, they actually included this picture in their listing. Kinda’ like saying, “You don’t believe Spiderman is a friend of mine? Here we are in Willard Square!” I won’t lie, when we go to San Fran to visit our friends Matt, Laura and Phoebe who moved from So. Po. we bring them a box from Scratch! It’s gone before we even get to the Dim Sum place.
As amazing as this all is, (and having lived right on Willard Street, I can vouch for the friendly neighborhood), the real draw is this…
The listers included a daytime shot as well, but in my opinion there is nothing more peaceful than walking down to the shore with your beach chair, some salt and vinegar chips and a glass of wine to talk with someone that you enjoy. When the listers included this picture, I knew that they really get it. Even though this stunning property is a rental, I know in my bones that it will be homey and that people from away will get a real Maine experience.
