Maine Gas Prices Are Lower This Week

It's true, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. Gas prices in Maine have been slowly dropping over the past couple of weeks. According the the price-monitoring website GasBuddy.com, gas prices in Maine are three cents per gallon lower this week, for a statewide average of $2.29 per gallon.

Nationally, gas prices were also down just over three cents per gallon for an average of $2.23 per gallon.

The lowest reported gas price in Maine is in Newport at $2.08 per gallon.

South Carolina has the lowest average gas prices in the country at $1.91 per gallon. Three states now are back under the $2 mark for an average price for a gallon on gas. They are South Carolina, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

New Hampshire has the lowest average gas price in New England at $2.19 per gallon.
