The Augusta Police Department is sending out a heads-up to motel and hotel guests in Maine about a phishing scam. Here's how it works: a guest checks into their hotel and then gets a call claiming to be the front desk, who claims that there is a problem with the guest's credit card and ask for the information over the phone. Some guests have fallen for it and provided their complete credit card information! If you ever get a call like this while staying in a hotel, go to the front desk to verify it, and never, ever, ever, ever give out your personal or financial information over the phone!

This is good information so pass it on!
