In the fall of 2014, we had the honor of having Richard as a guest in the studio for WBLM's Classic Lunch Hour with Tommy C. He and TC had a terrific time on-air together as he regaled us with stories of Jerry Garcia, Jim Morrison, Grace Slick, and Marty Balin.

Richard shared with us that he and Marty were especially close and still in touch. Here at WBLM, we are sad to hear the news last week of Marty's passing. Richard is the first person we thought of when we got the news. Our deepest condolences to our friend Richard and all who knew the great Marty Balin founder of Jefferson Airplane.

He posted an emotional tribute to Marty Balin on Facebook saying,

"Marty was extraordinary. A unique man. His soul ran deep and he generously shared his wealth as a family man, a friend, a musician, a songwriter, a singer, a dancer, and a painter."
