The Maine Special Olympics torch made its journey through Portland on Wednesday afternoon as part of a week long journey that will conclude on Friday.

Law enforcement officials - including officers from the Portland Police Department - have been running with the torch since Tuesday. The run began in Sanford and will end at the University of Maine in Orono on Friday. The games begin Friday and run through Sunday.

The torch run has raised over $1 million since it began in 1985.
