There is a segment of the population that needs to check summertime ozone levels frequently because it can greatly affect their ability to breathe. I know myself that when I was experiencing allergy related asthma, I could tell when the ozone was high. The American Lung Association's 2018 "State of the Air" report is out and the news seems to be improving here in Maine.

Across the country ozone levels are increasing, but here in Maine none of our counties received a failing grade for ozone. That hasn't happened in three years. As a matter of fact, our lowest grade was a C from Aroostook county, Bangor ranked as the second cleanest city in the country for ozone and the rest of our graded counties earned an A.

The State of the Air Report measures both ozone pollution and particle pollution.
