We've heard that eating poppy seed bagels can result in a positive drug test for opioids. Is that true, or urban myth? While ordering one for breakfast last week, I decided to do some research. What I found surprised me.

According to the Portland Press Herald, eating poppy seeds really can make you fail a drug test! The poppy seeds come from opium poppies that don't contain enough morphine to actually get you high, but they do contain enough to cause a false positive drug test and turn your life upside down. You could be out of work if your employer tests, or if you have to do mandatory drug testing for any reason you could also be in danger of losing your kids.

How many poppy seeds is too much? There's no solid answer there. Maybe switch to sesame seed to be on the safe side!
