Meet Portland PD’s Summer Footbeat Officers

Meet Portland Police officers Zach Grass and Kate Phelan. These two are the Old Port's summer Footbeat officers. With the summer months and influx of tourists, the PDD has extra police on the streets-as community officers helping visitors and local businesses alike. This is such a great idea-not just having officers in cruisers but having officers we can see and talk to every day. They're wicked fun to hang out with too!

Today sounded like a great day on the Footbeat:

"While walking along Commercial St. this afternoon, we were flagged down by Captain Dave Laliberte, of Lucky Catch Cruises. Captain Dave showed us a day in the life of a Maine lobstermen. He taught us how to set traps, load bait bags, and measure lobsters. ‪#‎footbeat‬ ‪#‎firstarrest‬ ‪#‎probableclaws‬."

The only difference between and summer and winter uniform? just the short sleeve shirt. And the lobster gear of course.
