With or without Brad Stevens on the sidelines, the Boston Celtics have hit a mid-season dip. They lost in Chicago 101-92 and fall to 19-17.

Stevens handed the coaching reigns over to assistant Jay Larranaga. Stevens is visiting a former Butler University player he coached, Andrew Smith, he is battling cancer. The Boston Globe reported Smith was undergoing a bone marrow transplant yesterday.

As for the C's, they couldn't handle the combo of Pau Gasol, Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose. Gasol had 17 points and 18 rebounds, Butler had 19 and 10, Rose added 18.

The Celts had one of those miserable shooting nights - 37% for the field, just 5-for-25 from the three-point line. Jae Crowder led with 17 points.

The loss knocks the C's out of the top 8 in the NBA East and temporarily out of the playoff picture.
