Less than 24 hours after Darrelle Revis bolted the Patriots for the Jets, the team added a few to the roster. The Pats looked to add depth to the defense by signing former Cleveland Brown Jabaal Sheard who has played both on the line and outside linebacker. Sheard gets a one year $11 million dollar deal. He played in all 16 games this season with 5 starts where he collected 29 tackles and 2 sacks.

Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa was also signed to a one year deal after spending his first four seasons in the league with the Oakland Raiders where he appeared in 32 games.

Wide receiver Kevin Dorsey became the second player at that position signed by the Pats. The 6'1" Dorsey was a second round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2011. He played in just four games and had one catch as most of the season was spent on the injured list.
