Phil Rudd’s Family Members Insist He Didn’t Threaten to Kill Anybody

The legal drama surrounding AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd isn’t anywhere close to being cleared up, but he can at least count on public support from his family members.

As previously reported, Rudd faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of charges that include threatening to kill. Prosecutors have already dropped a charge of attempting to procure a murder, but it appears that Rudd will have a tougher time beating the rest of his rap.

The Rudd family is projecting a united front, however. The drummer’s son spoke with the Daily Mail, saying simply, “All I will say is that my dad is a good guy. He’s not perfect, but wouldn’t harm anyone.” The Mail’s report includes a number of photos from social media sites depicting Rudd with his brood, along with comments referring to them as “the sweetest people” and quotes from one of Rudd’s neighbors, who referred to him as “a good neighbor” and “a pretty nice guy” — seemingly contradicting rumors of his allegedly depraved lifestyle.

Whatever happens, AC/DC clearly don’t intend to wait around for Rudd when it comes to taking care of band business; they recently issued a statement vowing that his “absence will not affect the release of our new album ‘Rock or Bust‘ and upcoming tour next year.”
