After abruptly shutting their doors and apparently closing up shop for good earlier this month Portland's Dry Dock is beginning to show signs of a rebirth.

The restaurant had been in business since 1983 but just a few weeks ago patrons thought they may have dined there for the last time after the iconic seafood joint closed without warning.

Now, under new ownership it appears the Dry Dock is in transition and will re-open after some renovations are complete.

The new owners have submitted plans for a two-story addition to the building on the east side, to house a new kitchen on the first floor, and office/storage space on the second, according to the Historic Preservation Board of Portland. They also want to replace most of the back wall where the deck is with floor to ceiling glazing and expand the deck.

The plans still have to be OK'd by the City.
