Tonight(1/23) at 7pm, we will gather at the State Theatre to honor the life and music of David Bowie. In the early 70's, he sang that kids were going through "cha, cha, cha, changes" and encouraged us to fearlessly "turn and face the strange" inspiring so many of us here in Blimpville and millions all over the world to be ourselves. When the shocking news of his death spread, many people here in Portland turned to leading local musician Spencer Albee asking what he would do to memorialize David Bowie. There is a very personal connection for him as well. When Spencer was working with Rustic Overtones on the album Viva Nueva in the summer of '99, producer Tony Visconti invited Bowie to sing with them...he did.

I guess you could say there was a lot of, "we gotta do something" in our music community. Spencer has a great history of assembling talented artists from various bands to collaborate and perform live. There is also a great love of Bowie's musical and artistic legacy among them. So this happened quite naturally.

The demand tickets has become so big that the show has been moved from Port City Music Hall to the State Theatre.

Planet earth is blue and there's nothing we can do...but we can sing Bowie songs together and that is truly precious. WBLM is proud to present:
