Foreigner is in Portland tonight performing a sold out show at the State Theatre. Original singer Lou Gramm isn't part of the group and hasn't been for 20 years. In 1997, he suffered a brain tumor and had it surgically removed. The medications made him overweight and weakened his singing voice. Foreigner's vocals have been handled by Kelly Hansen since Mick Jones relaunched the band in 2004. Make no mistake, Kelly Hansen is an incredibly powerful rock singer and gives the Foreigner classics the reverence they deserve. But, I would prefer to see Lou sing these songs. Maybe we can get him to town sometime soon. He has been working very hard at getting his voice back. Although he sings in a lower register, his passion and strength has returned in full force.

Last November he performed in Austin, Texas. Singing "Feels Like The First Time" like a champ!
