Imagine for a moment, holding on to a first edition copy of "Pet Sematary" as a priceless keepsake and then suddenly you wake up, and it's gone. That, along with a couple thousand other priceless first editions and manuscripts from Stephen King, George R.R. Martin and J.R.R. Tolkien were destroyed after a Bangor man's basement flooded due a water main break on Tuesday.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Gerald Winters had been collecting this rare memorabilia for more than 20 years and had just recently moved to Bangor from Thailand in hopes of opening a museum showcasing his priceless collection. Now, he's left devastated, just like his collection.

Winters told the BDN that he had traveled extensively throughout the globe amassing his collection of rarities. It included typed manuscripts from Stephen King like "Maximum Overdrive" and "Dolan's Cadillac" amongst others. Roughly 90% of Winters collection was affected by the water main break, and he's not sure how he's going to recover from the damage.

In his own words, "you can't replace this stuff".
