Joe Cocker, whose 40-year career featured several number 1 hits that will live forever in the hearts and minds of Classic Rock fans everywhere, has passed away at 70, according to BBC News.

The news agency reported that Cocker died from an undisclosed illness, according to his agent Barrie Marshall.

Cocker had a signature gritty voice that allowed him to skyrocket to fame with his version of The Beatles "With a Little Help from My Friends." He also recorded  "Up Where We Belong" from "An Officer And A Gentleman" with Jennifer Warnes, which hit number one and went on to win both a Grammy and an Academy Award.
