A day after Manager John Farrell questioned the hustle of David Ortiz, Big Papi went out and hit 2 home runs and drove in 7 leading the Red Sox to an 11-1 win over Detroit.Ortiz blasted a 3-run shot in the 5th inning to break a 1-1 tie and give Boston a lead they would never lose. He added another 3-run homer in the 7th inning as the Sox continued to pile on the runs. It turned out to be a 4-hit night for Papi who also added an rbi single.

Xander Bogaerts had a nice night at the plate collecting 4 hits of his own in a game in which the Sox offense pounded out 20 hits as a team. The bottom third of the Sox lineup that includes Mike Napoli, Blake Swihart and Pablo Sandoval combined for 5 hits and 4 rbi.

Eduardo Rodriguez got the job done on the mound pitching 3-hit ball over 7 innings and striking out 6. His record improves to 6-3 and his ERA drops to 4.26.

Boston will now face the Chicago White Sox who roll into Fenway Park for a 4-game series starting tonight.
