Royals Win First World Series In 30 Years [VIDEO]

It took 30 years and 3 extra innings Sunday night but the Kansas City Royals can now call themselves World Series Champions after beating the New York Mets 7-2.

With the Mets holding a 2-0 lead going to the top of the 9th inning, Matt Harvey who had thrown 101 pitches convinced Manager Terry Collins to let him go back out to finish the game. After walking the lead off batter he gave up an rbi double that cut the lead on half. Harvey was lifted form the game but Salvador Perez drove in the tying run on a ground out sending the game to extra innings.

In the top of the 12th the Royals plated 5 runs with Christian Colon driving in the go ahead run and Lorenzo Cain smashing a 3-run double.

Perez was named the World Series MVP after batting .364 with two doubles and two rbi's. The 25 year old catcher played every inning of the series except the 12th in the clinching game.

The Royals will now return to Kansas City where they will continue their celebration with a victory parade on Tuesday.
