Try to keep up. NOW we can't even be P.C., because the politically correct police don't like the way the term has taken on a negative connotation. It has become more of a snarky term than one that denotes sensitivity. I have a family member who precedes every incredibly offensive story or statement with, "I know it's not P.C. to say this but,..." P.C. is punctuated with air quotes. What started off as a well-meaning movement toward sensitivity, has become associated with know-it-all, judgemental, over-sensitive, pompous blowhards. The Archie Bunkers of the world have turned it back onto the P.C. Police. The pendulum always swings back, so here we are. It's no longer politically correct to use P.C. or politically correct. I'll keep you posted on the new up and coming term, because there will definitely be one!

I agree that the term politically correct has been overused. Do we really need an official term for being polite, tolerant and kind? Instead of air quoting that what you are about to say isn't "P.C.", can't you just say, "I'm about to sound like a small minded jackhole"?
