I am in no way an expert on politics, but the issue of Syrian refugees is a topic that I wanted to learn more about. The high priority of national security here and in the U.K. is causing heated debates on what should be done with the influx of refugees.

I turn to my girl Katie Couric to explain this tragic situation.

Here is another perspective from the U.K., and some projections of what the influx of refugees could mean .

Locally, Maine Governor LePage has said that he will do whatever he can to keep Syrian refugees out of Maine. He's not alone, there are a couple handfuls of states that are saying the same thing. WCSH6 did a story on his announcement. But is it legal to turn refugees away? Is it moral? What do you think?

Should Maine close it's borders to Syrian refugees?

My heart goes out to Beirut and Paris for their recent losses. I can also only imagine what it must be like to live in Syria. As a mother, I would do anything that I could to get my family out of harms way. There's no easy answer for me personally, it just breaks my heart.
