Kids have been saying it for generations, and science has confirmed it. School starts too early for a young, developing brain that is thirsty for sleep. As a mom, I don't understand why the young kids go to school later than the teenagers. My little ones are up and at 'em bright and early, while teenagers who were up late because of athletics or homework, desperately need more sleep! Finally later school start times are being discussed, and 3 Maine towns have approved them. Biddeford, Dayton, Saco and Thornton Academy, had a joint school committee meeting and approved earlier start times for all of those schools. High School will start at 8:35a, Middle School at 8:40a and intermediate, primary and JFK kindergarten will begin at 7:50 a.m..

I wish I could push MY start time back.
