According to News Center Maine, some states have already started arming teachers. In West Plains, Missouri an elementary school started arming certain trained teachers with concealed weapons permits after the Sandy Hook shooting. The teachers went through 40 hours of training and only the principal, school superintendent and school board members know who is carrying.

According to WMTW, Maine Sen. Eric Brakey proposed a bill that would allow teachers in local districts to go through firearms training and carry a concealed weapon at school. The Defend Our Students Act was shot down by legislative leaders.

Do you think Maine teachers should be armed if they are trained and choose to be?

The conversation of arming teachers continues. There's an Instagram movement called #Arm Me With, made up of teachers asking for a way to make classrooms safer through resources and not through using weapons.
