Here on the coast, it's a slushy mess. However, according to News Center Maine, it's all snowy love in the Maine mountains! Groomers are going crazy for the 20 inches of fresh snow that they have to work with as a base. Shawnee Peak has moved up it's season opening to this Saturday, their earliest opening in years.

True, in our neck of the woods it was a bummer of a commute into work. The heavy, wet snow is also responsible for some power outages. Even Bridgton was hit, but Shawnee Peak is bouncing back real quick to open for the season at 8:30a on Saturday.

It's a strong start to the ski season that creates a lot of revenue for our state. Sunday River and Sugarloaf have already opened and have about half their trails operating, this storm may allow them to open more.

I'm not a skier, but I do love to Apres ski. You can find me enjoying the fire, live music, a cold beer and the company of others in the lodge. Ski season in Maine is an entire social season, get out there and enjoy it!
