Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner is one of three finalists to be the next MLB commissioner - that's according to a report in USA Today. Their sources say Werner, MLB's chief operating officer Rob Manfred and MLB's executive VP for business Tim Brosnan are the three finalists.

The search committee formed to pick a replacement for Bud Selig apparently has finalized its list. Selig is retiring in January after 22 years as commissioner.

Werner is part of the ownership group that purchased the Sox back in 2002. He has served in the position of chairman throughout his time in Boston.

23 of the 30 owners must approve a new commissioner and the vote is expected later this month.
