The King Pine chairlift at Sugarloaf Resort malfunctioned by going backwards over the weekend prompting frightened skiers to jump to their safety.

According to the resort the lift's brake systems were not working properly. Attendants were forced to pull the emergency brake to get it to stop.

Thankfully only seven skiers were injured, none of them serious, during the accident.

Sugarloaf released a statement on Facebook informing the public that "their first concern is those who were injured or otherwise impacted by the incident" and that "they never want our guests to experience something like this again."
