A blast of late July heat is headed our way for Thursday as we say goodbye to May and hello to June.

The National Weather Service is predicting record and close to record high temperatures with inland cities and towns getting well into the 80s to maybe even 90 up north. The first day of June will be warm too (or as we say in Maine, HOT!) with sticky air moving in and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon.

Here's what to expect for 'blazin' temps from our friends at the National Weather Service.

As we prepare ourselves to get back to work in the heat, let's have a laugh with this hilarious Maine cartoon from O' Chang Comics! It's the story of a Summah Paintin' job with plenty of 'smokie' breaks!
