Believe it or not, the UMaine vs UConn football opener game tonight will be the 74th time the two schools have met on the gridiron. Their history goes all the way back to the Yankee Conference days.

These days the Black Bears play in the Colonial Athletic Association(FCS) while the Huskies play in the American Athletic Conference(FBS).

> UMaine coach Joe Harasymiak is the nation's youngest coach at age 30. Bob Diaco is in his third year at UConn. He is 43 years old.

> Harasymiak was a captain on the Springfield College football team in 2007 when UMaine last played UConn (38-0)

> Maine's last will over the Huskies was 1997. It was that thrilling 49-47 triple overtime win in Orono.

> A year ago, UMaine finished 3-8. UConn was 6-7.

> $325,000...The numbers on the check that UConn pays to Maine. (Maine gets $375,000 for the Toledo game on September 10th).
