The Kids Are Alright! MAMM Slam FInalists Announced

The Maine Academy of Modern Music held its prelim competition for their annual high-school Battle of the Bands this past weekend at Bayside Bowl. After a full afternoon of the best high-school bands from around Maine rocking their best, the judges came up with the Top 5 who will go on to the finals.

They are:

• The Asthmatic - Casco Bay High School
• Mikayla Gallows - Thornton Academy
• The Rubber Band - Windham High School
• Liam Swift - Casco Bay High School
• Yard Sail - Casco Bay High School, Cheverus, & Thornton Academy

And the Wildcard Winners:

• Spacehaven - Falmouth, Portland, Scarborough, & Yarmouth High Schools

According to MAMM, Winners of the MAMM SLAM win $1000, sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Music Fund, along with coveted recording time, radio appearances on WBLM and WCYY,  gigs, a tour of Gateway Mastering, and college scholarships to the Maine College of Art (MECA) of up to $16,000 per year to each member of the winning band. Thanks MECA!

The MAMM SLAM Finals will be on Saturday, May 13th at Empire. Doors open at 1pm and tickets cost $12 for adults, $7 for students, and children under 5 are free. Wanna see the future of Rock and Roll in Maine? Then come out and cheer on ALL these great bands.
