The Search Is On For Portland’s Christmas Tree!
Maybe the City of Portland should place a personals ad for a 2017 Christmas Tree! Every year the official tree lighting ceremony takes place the day after Thanksgiving on Monument Square. Is there a tree on your property that would clean up real nice and bring holiday joy to Portland?
According to WCSH, the city has a few conditions. Aside from liking dogs, babies and long walks on the beach, the city is looking for:
- A Spruce or Fir
- Height does matter, please be between 45 to 60 feet tall.
- No long distance relationships, please be local. Accepting applications from Portland, South Portland, Yarmouth, Cumberland, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham, Falmouth, Scarborough and Westbrook.
- Please be free of any hang ups, such as power lines.
It's a sweet deal for someone with a tree that they would like gone. The City of Portland will remove the tree at no cost to the person donating it, that person will also be given a lovely prize pack that includes a hotel stay in Portland for the night of the tree lighting, VIP tickets to the event and a couple of tickets to Merry Madness as well.
